Martin J. Feinberg Joins Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla as a Shareholder in the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Area

    January 31, 2019

Martin J. Feinberg has joined Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla, P.C., in Red Bank and New York City as a shareholder who counsels clients from startups to Fortune 500 companies on intellectual property and business related matters.

He focuses on domestic and international brand protection, anti-counterfeiting programs, worldwide investigations of intellectual property violations, trademark and copyright infringement/counterfeiting litigation, and the development of product security procedures and devices. In addition, Martin handles intellectual property clearance, registration/prosecution, due diligence, licensing, manufacturing compliance, and customer and distributor agreements.

Martin has extensive experience advising clients in the apparel, luxury goods, toy, electronics, video game, software, accessories, safety, pharmaceutical and dental industries.

“Martin’s work is national and international in scope. His deep experience in intellectual property law and his prior work as a prosecutor allow him to guide clients on a broad spectrum of brand development and protection services. We are thrilled he is bringing his services to the firm,” said Paul T. Colella, co-managing shareholder at Giordano.

Martin is the author of a chapter, “Criminal Enforcement of State Anti-Counterfeiting Laws,” for the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition’s (IACC) Trademark Counterfeiting in the United States treatise, which is used to train law enforcement personnel throughout the United States.

Working with the IACC and the International Trademark Association (INTA), Martin also was instrumental in the development of a model anti-counterfeiting statute adopted by many states.  He currently serves as co-chair of the IACC North American Task Force, is counsel to the IACC’s Investigator Advisory Committee and is a member of INTA’s Anti-Counterfeiting Committee.

Previously, Martin was a partner and the head of the Anti-Counterfeiting departments at a boutique law firm as well as at mid-sized and large New York firms. He also served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Major Frauds Bureau, Rackets Division, of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, NY.

He frequently speaks at seminars and makes presentations on the development and prosecution of trademark counterfeiting offenses, identity theft and related topics.

Martin earned his J.D. at Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, in 1990 and his B.A. at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1985.
